Levoit Core 300-P Air Purifier

A small cylinder-shaped air purifier sized for one modest room; this entry checks its stated CADR against the AHAM and CARB records and spells out the filter routine.

The short version

  • The Amazon listing we checked (ASIN B07VVK39F7) resolves to the Core 300-P in white. Levoit and the listing state a CADR of 143 CFM for smoke, and a suggested room of 222 sq ft.
  • $80.99 on Sep 30, 2026, sold by Amazon.com. The Core 300 Series Original Filter was $29.99 on Levoit's site that day; the manual says to replace it every 6 to 8 months.
  • The "HEPA" wording has fine print: Levoit now says the filter reaches HEPA-grade efficiency in Sleep Mode, tested to an IEST method. It is not an unconditional "True HEPA" statement.
Kitchen

Keep it off the stovetop area; the manual says to keep it away from heat sources.

Sleeping area

Sized for a single room around 220 sq ft, with a dim Sleep Mode.

Bathroom

The manual says to keep it below 85% relative humidity and away from water.

Living areas

Fine for a small den or office; too small for an open-plan space.

What the spec sheet shows

We read the Amazon listing, Levoit's own Core 300-P product page and the US user manual PDF on Sep 30, 2026. The Amazon title is a long generic string, so we went by the listing's model field, which says "Core 300-P", color White. Where the two sources disagree, the table says so.

What the standards and sources say

CADR and AHAM. A clean air delivery rate is a measured airflow of filtered air for three test particles: smoke, dust and pollen. The listing says the purifier is "AHAM Verifide" with 143/153/167. We searched AHAM's directory of verified air cleaners on Sep 30, 2026 [4]. It returned a record for "LEVOIT Core 300" with exactly those numbers and a 222 sq ft suggested room, but that record was flagged in the directory data as deleted. We found no record under the name "Core 300-P". The Levoit models currently listed there are Core 300S and Core 300S-P variants. Levoit's own spec block names the 300-P's model as "Core 300" [2], so the numbers do line up with that rating. But on the day we looked, we could not find a current directory listing to point to. AHAM's suggested room size is based on 4.8 air changes per hour [5]. Our CADR label explainer walks through that arithmetic.

CARB. California's Air Resources Board certifies portable air cleaners sold in the state. CARB's site blocked our automated request, so we read its list through an Internet Archive copy dated Sep 19, 2026 [6]. It includes "Levoit Air Purifier, Core 300", type Mechanical, Executive Order G-19-112, notified August 1, 2019. CARB describes "Mechanical" as physical filtration only, with no ozone or ions generated. CARB also says plainly that its certification does not reflect how well an air cleaner works.

The HEPA wording. Levoit's filter page says the Original Filter "helps Levoit Core 300-P achieve HEPA filtration efficiency during Sleep Mode," tested with IEST RP C001.7 by an independent lab [3]. The listing uses similar "HEPA-grade in Sleep Mode" wording. The AHAM record records the filter type as "HEPA-Type". That is a narrower statement than a plain "True HEPA" label. Our post on what "True HEPA" means explains where the definition comes from. The listing markets the unit for pet hair, dander, pollen and smoke; we describe it here only as a particle filter with a carbon layer.

Before you buy

The 222 sq ft figure is the one to plan around. A 12 × 15 ft room is 180 sq ft and fits; a 15 × 20 ft room is 300 sq ft and does not. The manual says a room larger than about 219 sq ft will take longer to clean. Budget for a $29.99 filter (Levoit's price, Sep 30, 2026) every 6 to 8 months, and buy the genuine Core 300-P cartridge; the manual says to use only official Levoit filters.

How to set it up and keep it up

This is Levoit's own maintenance sequence from the manual, summarized. It is how the unit is meant to be run, not a promise of any result.

  1. Unwrap the filter and place the unit day one

Turn the purifier over, twist off the base cover and take the filter out of its plastic bag. The manual warns that running it with the wrap on can overheat the motor. Stand it on a flat, stable surface with at least 15 in (38 cm) of clearance on all sides, away from curtains that could block airflow.

  2. Pick a speed and a mode daily use

The manual suggests running speed III for 15 to 20 minutes when there is smoke in the room, then dropping lower. Sleep Mode runs the lowest fan speed with dimmed lights. Keep doors and windows closed while it runs.

  3. Clean the pre-filter every 2–4 weeks

Unplug it, take out the cartridge and clear hair and dust from the outer pre-filter with a soft brush or a vacuum hose. Do not wash it with water, and do not try to clean the main or carbon layers.

  4. Replace the filter and reset the light every 6–8 months

The check-filter light is a reminder, not a sensor reading. Replace the cartridge when it lights, or sooner if airflow drops, noise increases or the filter looks clogged. Then hold the filter button for 3 seconds to reset it.

Price and where it is sold

On Sep 30, 2026 the listing showed $80.99 for the Core 300-P in white, sold and shipped by Amazon.com, with a free 30-day refund or replacement. Levoit's own store listed the same purifier at $84.97 (down from $99.99) that day. The replacement Core 300 Series Original Filter was $29.99 on Levoit's site; Levoit lists it as compatible with the Core 300-P, Core P350-P and Core 300-P-RAC. At 6 to 8 months per filter, that is roughly $45 to $60 a year in filters. Prices change; these are what we saw on that date.

Who should look elsewhere

  • Anyone with a room much larger than about 220 sq ft. The Coway Airmega AP-1512HH on this site is stated for 361 sq ft.
  • Anyone who wants a CADR they can look up in AHAM's current directory. Check the directory yourself before buying, since the record we found for this model was flagged as deleted.
  • Anyone who wants app control or an air-quality sensor. This model has neither; Levoit sells those features on other models.
  • Anyone with a health question about their indoor air should ask a clinician or their local health department, not rely on a household appliance.
