The short version
- The ASIN we checked (B073WJ5M1B) is the silver-tank version, model PEHUMGRY. It has a 1.5-liter tank, is rated for up to 250 sq ft, and the maker states up to 25 hours on low or 12 hours on high.
- $39.99 on Sep 30, 2026, sold by Pure Enrichment Direct and shipped by Amazon. The optional decalcification cartridge was $12.99 on the maker's site, changed every 6 months.
- The real cost is time. The EPA says to empty and refill a portable humidifier daily and clean it every third day. Ultrasonic units also throw tap-water minerals into the room as fine "white dust".
Not a kitchen item; cooking adds moisture on its own.
Sized for a single room like the one you sleep in, up to 250 sq ft.
Bathrooms are humid enough already.
Works in a small den or office; too small for an open plan.
Solid yellow = where it lives · hatched = also works there
What the spec sheet shows
We read the Amazon listing and Pure Enrichment's product page for the MistAire Silver (PEHUMGRY) on Sep 30, 2026. The Amazon title just says "MistAire", but its model field and color (Silver) match the maker's MistAire Silver page. The white-tank MistAire (PEHUMIDIF) is a sibling model with a 1.7-liter tank, so check which one you are looking at.

What the standards and sources say
How humid is enough. A humidifier has no certification comparable to a filter rating. The useful reference numbers come from the agencies. The EPA's use-and-care page says not to humidify above 50 percent relative humidity [3]. Its mold and moisture guide gives 30 to 50 percent as the ideal range and says to keep indoor humidity below 60 percent [4]. The EPA also says that if water condenses on windows or walls, you should move the humidifier, turn it down or use it less. This unit has no built-in humidistat, so a separate hygrometer (see the TempPro TP50) is how you know where the room sits.
Why the cleaning matters. The EPA says ultrasonic and impeller ("cool mist") humidifiers generally disperse more of what is in their tanks into the air than evaporative or steam models [3]. That includes microorganisms and minerals. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says bacteria and fungi often grow in the tanks of room humidifiers and can be released in the mist [5]. It also says film, scum or crusty scale in the tank are the signs to watch for. Both agencies say minerals from tap water can settle as fine white dust. The EPA suggests water labeled "distilled" as the lowest-mineral option. Our indoor humidity explainer covers relative humidity and reading a hygrometer.
What the maker says. Pure Enrichment's support pages recommend rinsing and air-drying the unit between uses [6]. They say distilled water is not required, but you may find it worth using if your tap water is hard. The Amazon listing makes comfort and wellness claims that we do not repeat. It is a device that adds water vapor to a room.
Be honest about the upkeep. The EPA's routine (daily empty-and-refill, a scrub every third day) takes a few minutes a day. If that will not happen, a humidifier that sits with standing water is the scenario both agencies warn about. Also decide on water: hard tap water means white dust on nearby surfaces. The $12.99 decalcification cartridge is optional, and the EPA notes that how well such cartridges work varies widely.
How to set it up and keep it up
This combines the EPA's guidance with Pure Enrichment's own cleaning instructions. It is the care routine, not a promise of any result.
Rinse, fill and place day one
Rinse the tank, fill it with low-mineral water, and set the unit on a flat, water-safe surface. Point the nozzle into open air, away from carpet, curtains and bedding. The EPA says the area around a humidifier should not become damp or wet, and absorbent materials nearby should stay dry.
Empty, dry and refill daily
Unplug it, pour out what is left in the tank and base, wipe the surfaces dry and refill with fresh water, as the EPA recommends for portable units. Check the hygrometer; if the room is above 50 percent, turn it down or off.
Scrub the tank and descale every third day
The EPA says to clean portable humidifiers every third day, removing any film or scale. Pure Enrichment's descaling method: a mix of 1 teaspoon white vinegar and 1 teaspoon water in the base, left for 5 minutes. Brush the disk and interior with the included brush, then rinse well. Never run the unit with vinegar in it, and do not submerge the base or let water into the air exhaust port.
Swap the cartridge, if you use one every 6 months
The maker says to change the decalcification cartridge every 6 months. The EPA suggests watching for white dust, which means minerals are getting through.
Dry it out for storage end of season
Clean it, let every part dry fully, throw away any used cartridge and store it somewhere dry. Clean it again when it comes back out.
Price and where it is sold
On Sep 30, 2026 the listing showed $39.99 for the MistAire in silver (PEHUMGRY), sold by Pure Enrichment Direct and fulfilled by Amazon, with a free 30-day refund or replacement. Pure Enrichment's own store listed the MistAire Silver at the same $39.99. The MistAire decalcification cartridge (compatible with PEHUMIDIF and PEHUMGRY) was $12.99 on the maker's site. Distilled water is a running cost too if you choose it. Prices move; these are the figures from that date.
Who should look elsewhere
- Anyone who wants the humidifier to hold a set humidity on its own. This one has no humidistat; it runs until you switch it off or the tank empties.
- Anyone with very hard tap water who does not want to buy distilled water. The EPA says evaporative and steam models are not expected to disperse substantial amounts of minerals.
- Anyone humidifying a room much bigger than 250 sq ft. Pure Enrichment sells a larger MistAire XL.
- Anyone with a health question about dry air or humidifier use should ask a clinician. The EPA advises stopping use and contacting a physician if symptoms seem tied to periods of humidifier use.
